India pull out of Hockey Pro League

Dunya News

The relationships of Hockey India and FIH are tense at the moment.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – India have displayed yet another cheap tactic to harm sports by pulling out of the Hockey Pro League to sabotage the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Hockey India gave the excuse that there are no chances of women’s team to qualify for the World Cup and Olympics by playing the Pro League.

According to Indian media, the relationships of Hockey India and FIH are tense at the moment, and Indian team played the match against Pakistan wearing black bands on their arms last month in World Hockey League. FIH had also shown its reservations on this act by Indian team.

It is worth mentioning here that London police had investigated former Indian captain Sardar Singh for harassing a woman during the World Hockey League. Indian hockey federation protested before FIH after the incident, and took the stance that a Pakistan-born parliament member provoked the woman to complain against Sardar Singh.

The interrogation by London police from Sardar Singh during the tournament not only affected his own performance badly, but also of the team.
