SAF Games: Another Pakistani athlete bags gold, given hero's welcome

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Another Pakistani athlete, Maaz Khan, participating in the Wushu event of 12th South Asian Games (SAF) 2016 being held in India, bagged a gold medal and made the nation proud once again. Khan was given a hero’s welcome Sunday at Karachi’s airport.

According to the details, relatives and supporters of the athlete showered Khan with petals and raised the slogan of long live Pakistan upon his return.

Khan looked extremely pleased and stated that he was very satisfied on beating the host country’s opponent on his own turf.

Khan further stated that Wushu, a form of traditional Chinese martial arts, was in dire need of government supervision.

Earlier, the national team of wrestlers also returned with gold, silver and bronze medals, which has improved the country’s image of containing some talented sportsmen.

The 12 SAF Games are being held in the Indian states of Gauhati and Shillong and will continue up until 16th of February.
