Arsenal, Auston Villa, Bernuley and Liverpool teams have won their matches in the English Premier League. Defender Thomas Vermaelen scored twice as Arsenal thrashed Wigan 4-0 at the Emirates, while Fernando Torres grabbed a double for Liverpool who were twice pegged back before securing a thrilling 3-2 win at West Ham. Burnley, who went up with Birmingham, beat Sunderland 3-1 in an entertaining early kick off with David Nugent scoring a double, while Bolton and Stoke drew 1-1. Aston Villa moved up to sixth with a simple 2-0 win over bottom side Portsmouth. Sunderland had looked the more likelier winners when Darren Bent equalized Graham Alexander's penalty six minutes before half-time. Garry O'Connor headed the winner as Birmingham pinched a 1-0 win at Hull City.
