JAMRUD (Dunya News) – At least three terrorists were killed in Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Jamrud area of in the Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the CTD, acting on intelligence information, the department conducted an operation in the Naka Khel area located on Shah Kas Bypass Road in Jamrud, targeting a cell of Fitna al-Khawarij, during which three terrorists were killed.

The CTD said that the slain terrorists were active members of Fitna al-Khawarij and were involved in attacks on security forces, as well as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and other terrorist activities. Three Kalashnikov rifles and explosives were recovered from their possession.

In its statement, the CTD said that the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Additional IG CTD praised the personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams for the successful operation.

IBO ACTION IN BANNU 

At least two terrorists involved in police check post attack were killed in exchange of fire with police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bannu, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu region and police conducted a joint operation in Mirakhel area on an intelligence report during which the terrorists opened fire at the raiding party. The law enforcement agency personnel returned the fire due to which two terrorists were killed.

According to CTD officials, the killed terrorists have been identified as Sohail alias Sangari and Ismail alias Usman. The slain terrorists were involved in attacks on the Sheikh Landakh and Fateh Khel police check posts, in which eight police constables were injured.

The CTD officials informed that the killed terrorists were also involved in attacks on a security forces convoy, as well as an IED attack on an under-construction Rescue 1122 building.

The CTD personnel also recovered two Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, several rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, mobile phones, and a card of the banned organization TTP from the slain terrorists,.

CTD officials further said that two terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, and the Additional IG CTD praised the local police and CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams for the successful operation.

It may be recalled that Fitna-al-Khawarij is a term is used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and Fitna-al-Hindustan for Balochistan-based terrorist groups who are involved in terrorism across Pakistan.

TERRORISM IN PAKISTAN IN YEAR 2025

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in a press conference on January 6, gave a detail of terrorism incidents in Pakistan in 2025 and action taken by security forces against the perpetrators.

The ISPR DG said law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, including the army, police, Federal Constabulary, and intelligence agencies, conducted a total of 75,175 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in 2025.

He noted that 14,658 operations were conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 58,778 in Balochistan, and 1,739 in other regions of Pakistan.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry said that 5,397 terror incidents took place in Pakistan last year, of which 3,811 were reported from KP, 1,557 from Balochistan and 29 from other areas.

Moreover, 2,597 terrorists were killed in Pakistan in 2025, the DG ISPR said. Among them, 1,800 were killed in KP, 784 in Balochistan, and 10 in other areas.

In 2025, he continued, 1,235 law enforcement personnel and civilians were martyred in the fight against terrorism.

About suicide bombing incidents, he said a total of 27 had taken place in 2025. Of these, 16 occurred in KP, 10 in Balochistan, and one in Islamabad, at the judicial complex.
