ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – President Asif Ali Zardari met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, renewing Pakistan’s commitment to what he termed the “iron brotherhood” with China.

The President underlined that relations with China remain a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, describing the two nations as tried-and-tested friends and all-weather partners.

During the talks, President Zardari expressed condolences over the recent floods in Beijing and Gansu, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with China in times of hardship. He emphasised that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) stands as a central pillar of shared vision between the two nations and noted that 2026 will mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, which Pakistan intends to celebrate in a befitting manner.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi, acknowledging the sentiments, stated that the friendship between China and Pakistan transcends generations. He stressed that the bilateral relationship continues to grow in strength and scope.

Both sides also exchanged views on deepening cooperation and ensuring regional security, reiterating their commitment to longstanding strategic partnership.
