TASHKENT (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, undertook an official visit to Uzbekistan where he held meetings with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Defence Minister Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, and National Security Council Secretary Lieutenant General Victor Makhmudov.

The high-level interactions reflected a renewed push for closer collaboration between the two nations, according to the Pakistani military’s media wing.

Defence and security

The talks centred on the evolving international and regional geo-political and security landscape, with special emphasis on matters of mutual concern. Both sides expressed their resolve to enhance cooperation in defence and security sectors.

Connectivity plans

In addition to military collaboration, discussions also touched upon road and rail connectivity along with wider avenues of cooperation.

General Mirza underlined Pakistan’s long-standing fraternal ties with Uzbekistan, reiterating a shared vision for peace and prosperity in the region.

Uzbekistan’s leadership praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in combating terrorism, voicing optimism for strengthened bilateral partnership in the future.
