Rabi-ul-Awwal moon likely to be sighted on August 24: Suparco
Pakistan
First day of Rabi-ul-Awwal is expected to fall on August 25, 2025.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has lifted the lid on its forecast for the sighting of the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon for the Islamic year 1447 AH.
According to Suparco, the new moon is expected to be born at 11:06 a.m. on August 23, 2025. By sunset on August 24, the moon will be around 32 hours and 13 minutes old — more than enough time for it to make an appearance in the evening sky.
Along coastal areas, the gap between sunset and moonset will be roughly 45 minutes. If the weather plays ball and skies remain clear, there’s a good chance the moon will be spotted on the evening of August 24.
