LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has welcomed the termination of contracts with the IPPs, calling it a positive step.
Speaking a press conference in Lahore, he said the saved capacity payments should be used to reduce electricity bills for the public.
He stressed that his party’s protest movement will continue, maintaining pressure on the government.
Hafiz Naeem also called for an end to taxes on electricity bills, reducing the fuel levy and taxing large landowners.
He criticised the sugar mafia’s influence and raised concerns about the looming food crisis due to reduced wheat cultivation.
