ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appoint a prosecutor in the Toshakhana-II case by tomorrow, Thursday.

IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard Bushra Bibi’s bail plea in Toshakhana-II case. Deputy Attorney General Arshad Mehmood Kiyani appeared before the court.

Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar presented arguments during the case hearing.

Safdar stated that a reference was filed in the accountability court on 19 July and the case proceeded to FIA after amendment.

The applicant filed for bail plea in the case and that plea was also sent over to FIA court in September and FIA submitted the challan in the court after two days.

Bushra Bibi’s counsel mentioned that they were disturbed by the special prosecutor as the case was pending and the bail plea was being rejected.

Barrister Salman maintained that the case was about an expensive Bvlgari jewellery set including necklace, earrings, rings and bracelets and Imran Khan was alleged of setting the set at a low price compared to market value without placing it in Toshakhana repository.

This case was similar to the first Toshakhana reference having the same allegations, approvers and accused. How two cases could be filed for one Toshakhana, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer raised a question.

The court directed FIA officials to make notes to provide response to arguments.

The price of the jewellery was set by PTI founder Imran Khan’s secretary. The jewellery set price was estimated at 5.8 million that was also confirmed by three persons including Customs collector, Bushra Bibi’s counsel informed.

Salman Safdar maintained that the jewellery set was purchased paying around 2.9 million, however prosecution claimed that state treasury was at loss by setting a low price that was estimated at Rs 6 million.

The court rejected the FIA request for one week's time to appoint a prosecutor and directed to appear in court by appointing a prosecutor tomorrow.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that he wouldn’t delay bail plea in the case.

Consequently, the court adjourned the case hearing of Bushra Bini’s bail plea until tomorrow.

IMRAN KHAN, BUSHRA BIBI MOVE COURT

Imran Khan’s spouse Bushra Bibi has moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) for post-arrest bail in Toshakhana-II case.

The spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan challenged the court verdict rejecting her bail plea in Islamabad High Court.

Bushra Bibi filed the plea through her counsel Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, requesting the court to approve the post-arrest bail plea.

The application mentioned that the arrest of the leader was unfair with false allegations and blackmailing witnesses to record statements against her in the Toshakhana case.

It was added that the case based on mal-intent and FIA had violated law.

It is pertinent to note that a special judge central Islamabad rejected the post-arrest bail pleas of former prime minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II case.
