Ready to face worst memogate scenario: PM Gilani

PM Gilani says nobody else but he will face whatever results memogate inquiry yields.

Addressing PPP parliamentary party meeting at Punjab Governor’s House, the PM said that he is ready to face the worst of scenario in the memogate scandal, but would foil all conspiracies with the support of the parliament.He said that he called back former envoy Hussain Haqqani and asked him to tender resignation. When an inquiry had been initiated through parliamentary committee on national security, Nawaz Sharif had no reason to take the matter to the court, the PM added.PM Gilani said the PPP gave the country nuclear power and the 1973 constitution, and the party knows how to defend them. He said that people come and go, but the parliamentary system must stay on.The PM announced allocating RS70m for each PPP MPA in Punjab after they complained that the Punjab government was overlooking them.The leadership of PPP decided to warm up political activities on provincial level and to take members into confidence on the memo issue. The PM also reportedly consented to lifting of ban on appointments in government departments.Before the meeting of parliamentary party, the governor Punjab invited the participants to lunch, where members also discussed the initiation of ‘Wafaq Bachao’ movement. Members Punjab Assembly and federal ministers from Punjab are also attending the meeting.According to sources, the members of Punjab Assembly burst out in the meeting against the bureaucracy. They demanded job quota for their brothers and sons. PPP members also asked the prime minister to issue them arm licences of prohibited bores. The prime minister accepted the demand to issue the arms licenses to MPAs.In the major decision, the prime minister announced to allocate funds worth Rs 70 million to each MPA of PPP in Punjab Assembly.
