ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency, police and other parties on a plea filed by former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, requesting details of all cases lodged against him.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq ordered the parties to respond by Friday (tomorrow).

At the outset of the proceedings, counsel Haroonul Rasheed and Malik Ghulam Sabir, representing the former AJK premier, requested the court to provide their client with information about the details and number of cases registered against him.

One of them informed the chief justice that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was arrested by the Margalla police in a case related to a family row. But, he added, when he secured bail from a magistrate, the local police handed him over to the FIA.

The lawyer further informed that his client was now in FIA custody on a three-day physical remand.

He requested the court to allow the former prime minister’s family to visit him during his physical remand.

At this, the chief justice issued notices to the FIA, police and other parties, directing them to respond by Friday. He also instructed that the former AJK premier’s family be allowed to meet him during his physical remand.

On May 21, the district and sessions court in Islamabad granted a three-day physical remand of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas for possessing his diplomatic passport after stepping down from the position of premier.

His lawyers contended that his client, being a former prime minister, was entitled to utilise his diplomatic passport.

Earlier, on May 20, the former AJK premier was arrested by the Islamabad police in connection with an attack on a shopping mall in Islamabad.
