ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday congratulated Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on getting elected as Jamaat-e-Islami emir.
The prime minister expressed best wishes for Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and appreciated his services for his party.
He expressed hope that under the leadership of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the Jamaat-e-Islami would play an active role for strengthening democracy and public welfare.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was elected new emir of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) by getting majority votes.
Three names were presented by the Central Shura members to lead the Jamaat. Sirajul Haq, Liaquat Baloch and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman were among the contestants.
The decision was taken by the majority of Jamaat-e-Islami members. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman will lead the JI till 2029.
