Candidates keep filing papers as date for submission of nominations expires today

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday extended the date for submission of nomination papers
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The date for submission of nomination papers will expire today (December 24) as candidates kept on filing papers.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) staff at provincial capitals was seen busy in issuing and receiving papers from candidates belonging to political parties, including the PML-N, the PPP, the PTI, the IPP, the JUI-F and others, besides independents.
In three days, 89 candidates filed papers with the ECP for National Assembly seats. In Balochistan for 16 National Assembly seats 321 aspirants filed nomination papers and for 51 provincial assembly seats 1,270 candidates submitted nomination papers.
It may be recalled that the (ECP) had on Friday extended the date for submission of nomination papers till Dec 24.
Sources told Dunya News that the two-day extension had been granted on the request of political parties, including the JUI-F, the PML-N and the BAP.
THE REVISED SCHEDULE
The ECP had issued a fresh schedule in this regard, they added.
According to the revised schedule, nomination papers can now be filed till Dec 24 (Sunday). Political parties can also submit lists of their candidates for reserved seats by Dec 24.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from Dec 25 to 30, while appeals against the decisions of the returning officers can be filed by Jan 3.
Polling will be held on Feb 8, 2024, throughout the country simultaneously for national and provincial assemblies.
