Usman Dar quits both PTI and politics
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar on Wednesday squarely blamed the PTI chief for the May 9 events, stating that the former prime minister used the human shield to avoid his arrest and himself issued instructions for attacking the sensitive installations.
Dar, who did not appear in any television show after he was set free following his arrest in connection with the May 9 events, made these startling revelations during an exclusive episode of “On The Front” on Dunya TV.
Spilling the beans, Dar said that there were clear instructions relayed that in the event of PTI chief’s arrest, sensitive installations should be attacked to pressure the military. “These directions had come directly from the PTI chairman,” he added.
Dar, who served as special adviser to the former prime minister on youth affairs, charged the PTI chief with masterminding the May 9 events, saying “these were planned at Zaman Park”.
He said that the goal behind these attacks was to pressure the military and extract the resignation from Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.

Dar also accused the PTI chief of running an anti-Pakistan narrative.
“Whatever happened at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad and Zaman Park in Lahore was the result this brainwashing,” alleged Dar, deploring that the PTI chief brainwashed his own party workers in order to avoid his arrest.
The PTI leader disclosed that PTI’s long march in October last year was meant to stop the posting of Asim Munir as the chief of army staff.
Dar blamed the PTI chairman for the present condition of the party which, according to him, was in tatters after seeing scores of party stalwarts and loyalists leave for its anti-Pakistan narrative. He also mentioned the mass resignations following the violent attacks on sensitive installations that shook the very foundations of the PTI.
According to Usman Dar, PTI leaders Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed, Azam Swati and Farrukh Habeeb were all anti-military and were close to PTI chairman. He said the PTI chief led the party’s anti-military policy, and the subsequent May 9 resistance resulted in complete devastation of the PTI.
Dar claimed that he wasn’t part of the PTI’s anti-military group, and said he would certainly make an appearance if he was called by the courts in this respect.
Dar mentioned that he was very upset with the PTI chairman, adding that he himself brought the party to the verge of destruction. “Had the PTI not resigned from the assemblies, the May 9 episode might not have occurred probably,” opined Dar.
Dar also claimed that he did not put a burden of even a rupee on the state exchequer, saying he even paid out of pocket for his official foreign visits. He said he did not misuse the taxpayers’ money.
The PTI leader strongly condemned the May 9 violence, and said, "The slur left by the May 9 incident will take time to come out."
He said since he himself belonged to Sialkot, a city of martyrs and "Ghazis", he could not even think of attacking his country's security forces.
Towards the conclusion of the show, Usman Dar announced his resignation from the PTI and quitting from national politics for good.
