Accountability court extends Parvez Elahi's physical remand till Sept 2

NAB Lahore team presents the former Punjab CM in court

LAHORE (Dunya News) – An accountability court on Tuesday extended the physical remand of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi till Sept 2. 

The heard the case of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which accused Parvez Elahi of being involved in corruption in various development schemes. 

Earlier in the day, accountability court judge Sajid Ali Awan reserved his ruling on a plea seeking physical remand of the PTI leader. He was produced before the court after completion of his physical remand in a case pertaining to alleged corruption worth billions of rupees in development projects.

The investigation team of NAB Lahore presented the former Punjab chief minister before the court. The court had sought a report from the investigation officer about the investigations made so far.

It merits mentioning here that Elahi is accused of committing corruption worth billions of rupees in development projects. A co-accused, Sohail Asghar Awan, will also be produced in court.

The Lahore High Court reinstated the single bench order not to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi in any undisclosed case. A two-member LHC bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan, announced the verdict after hearing the matter of granting bail to the former chief minister in some cases.

The Punjab government had challenged the decision of the single bench in the high court.
