Arrest is part of ‘London Plan’: PTI Media Department

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has described the arrest of its chief as ‘political vendetta’ and ‘political engineering’.

In a statement issued by the central media department of the party, the arrest of PTI chief has been highlighted as part of ‘London Plan’ in order to get the level playing-field for the elections.

“The order of Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar is completely biased and it would be challenged in the higher court,” the statement issued by the PTI said. It added that the judgement was a dark spot in the history of our judiciary.

It is a blatant attack on the people and democracy of Pakistan, the statement added. “We’ll not accept this conspiracy and revenge against the most popular political leader of this time,” the statement read.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi rejected the conviction and arrest of the party chief and called it a politically motivated and predetermined decision.

He expressed concern at the arrest of his party head and reminded the judiciary of its duty to ensure justice.

Hours earlier, a local court sentenced the PTI chairman for a three-year term in the Toshakhana case on Saturday. He was arrested from his Zaman Park residence moments after the court order and was taken to Islamabad.

Humayun Dilawar – the additional session judge – had passed the order as the PTI chairman again failed to appear in person.

Taking to social media platform X, the party’s media department said the PTI chief didn’t resist when police came to arrest him.

“The decision of Humayun Dilawar’s Kangaroo court wasn’t even received in the court premises but police were here in Lahore to arrest the party chief,” it said.
