LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central President and former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that the Nawaz League (PML-N) has announced boycott to avoid humiliation as it failed to find any candidate for elections in Punjab.

In his statement issued on Saturday after Eid prayers, he said that Fazlur Rehman's press conference against the chief justice, judiciary and Imran Khan was extremely irresponsible and unacceptable.

He wondered that the Maulana was in a hurry to call for election, but now he was vehemently opposing it.

About the PML-N boycott, the former chief minister said that it would make no difference. Defeat of the PML-N was a writing on the wall, that is why it is running away from elections, he added.

He said no one can stop the election without amending the constitution by a two-thirds majority. It is a constitutional issue that can be solved constitutionally.

The former chief minister said that the PML-N has now realised that there is no way out except negotiations. Dialogues can also be held within the limits of constitution.

Elahi claimed that Imran Khan has never refused to negotiate on the election. The government is giving the matter a negative impression, he added.

Ayaz Sadiq has contacted Fawad Chaudhary. “We pray for a way out through dialogues so that free, fair and transparent election are held,” he continued.

The former chief minister said that the Supreme Court has in its order set constitutional limits for negotiations. The apex court has given the government a last chance and disobeying the order will result in disqualification, Elahi concluded.
