In Lahore, the biggest Eid prayer gathering was held at Badshahi Masjid

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The nation is celebrating Eidul Fitr across the country with religious zeal and fervour today. However this time the religious celebrations have been shadowed by mounting inflation and dwindling pockets of citizens in the backdrop of ongoing economic downturn.    

Big Eid congregations were held across the country at open places, mosques and Eidgahs in all cities, towns and villages.

The Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eidul Fitr. Special prayers will be offered for the progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

President urges countrymen not to turn differences into hatred

As the nation celebrates Eidul Fitr on Saturday, President Dr Arif Alvi has appealed to the countrymen to not allow their sectarian, religious and political differences to become a source of strife and hatred.

The president, in his message to the nation on Eidul Fitr said in order to get out of the current situation facing the country, the people needed to adopt the practice of forgiving and follow the teachings of Allah and Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

The president, who congratulated the entire Pakistani nation and Islamic world on Eidul Fitr, said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) also exhorted us to show mercy and forgive others to seek mercy and forgiveness of Allah Almighty.

He also urged the countrymen to play their part in moving the country toward political and economic stability.

He said while Ramazan creates piety in us, it also makes us realise the sufferings, hunger and distress of others.

“This realization can be the basis for eradicating poverty and injustice from any society. We should make a pledge on this occasion of Eid that we will carry these qualities of piety, and realisation with us throughout the year and play our role in making society prosperous,” the president remarked.

He said as Pakistan currently faces difficult political and economic situation, the people needed to abide by the commandments of Allah Almighty to forgive others if they want Allah to be forgiving to us on the Day of Resurrection.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to accept our fasts and prayers during Ramazan and grant the country progress, and prosperity.

PM felicitates nation, Muslim Ummah on Eidul Fitr

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr.

In a message on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, he prayed that the blessed moment may bring for every Muslim immense happiness and joy in life.

He said the fasting month of Ramazanul Mubarak and worship of Allah evoked feelings of patience, contentment, and empathy and Eidul Fitr was also an occasion to practically demonstrate these qualities.

He advised people to take care of the needy, poor, destitute, and orphans around them.

These were difficult times and the sacrifice and love of the well-to-do and rich were needed more than in ordinary circumstances, he said adding, “Those who are facing difficulties due to adverse circumstances should be made part of the celebrations of Eid.”

Shehbaz Sharif said it was persistent effort of the coalition government to put on the people the minimum burden of the difficult economic conditions. “We are striving to the maximum to provide relief to the people. I believe that Allah Almighty will bring us out of these trying circumstances and the comforts of life will return.”

The prime minister emphasized that everybody would have to contribute to take Pakistan to its destination and to restore its lost status and to achieve that purpose constructive thinking, focus, and constant hard work were needed.

“As the sweetness of Eid follows the fasting month, God willing, our effort and hard work will bring economic prosperity in the life of the nation and the country.”

He appealed to his countrymen to not forget the flood affectees on the occasion of Eid and include them in their happiness.

“On this occasion, we salute the martyrs of the nation who embraced martyrdom while courageously fighting against terrorism and offer our heartfelt condolences to their families. May Allah elevate the ranks of these martyrs and give patience to their loved ones. Ameen,” he added.

While expressing solidarity with our Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers and sisters he said, “We pray that Allah Almighty may bless them with freedom. Ameen.”

He also expressed solidarity with the earthquake affectees of Turkiye and Syria and sympathized with the bereaved families, prayed for the peace of departed souls, and patience for the heirs.

Islamabad

In the Federal capital, the main Eid congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque where top government officials and envoys of Muslim countries will offer Eid prayers.

Lahore

Faithful  gathered in mosques, Eidgahs and open spaces in the provincial capital to offer Eid prayers. The biggest Eid prayer gathering was held at Badshahi Masjid, where the Punjab governor also offered prayers.

Karachi

In Karachi, the congregations of Eid prayers were held all over the city in mosques, eidgahs and imambargahs.

The main Eid congregation was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah while other large congregations of Eid prayers were held at Eidgah Nazimabad, Nishtar Park, T-Ground and Daar-ul-Uloom Karachi.

Sindh Government has made stringent security arrangements on the occasion.

Peshawar

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali and Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan offered Eid prayers at Governor House, Peshawar and will greet Eid to the public on 1st and 2nd day of Eid at the Governor House.

In Peshawar, the main congregation was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road, Peshawar.

The government has taken tight security measures to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the province on the occasion of Eid.

Quetta

Like the rest of the country, Eidul Fitr is being celebrated in Balochistan with religious fervour and zeal tomorrow.

In Quetta, more than 200 Eid prayer’s congregations were held at open places, parks, Masajid, Imambargahs and EidGah while the main congregation was held at Eidgah Toghi Road.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Nahim Akhtar offered Eid prayers at Governor House in Quetta.
