Petitioner contended that the men involved in the matter did not show any sense of responsibility.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Islamabad High Court has been moved seeking registration of a criminal case against former army chief Gen (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, ex-director general Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Faiz Hameed and two journalists for violating Official Secrets Act.

Petitioner Atif Ali contended that all the men involved in the matter did not show any sense of responsibility while giving interview and publishing it.

The petitioner said the revelations made by Gen (r) Bajwa and Gen (r) Hameed were a violation of the Official Secrets Act and tantamount to inciting mutiny and disharmony.

The petitioner requested the court to order the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general to register an FIR against the former generals and journalists Javed Chaudhry and Shahid Maitla.

Besides, it also sought directions to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to impose a ban on the two journalists.

The registrar office, however, objected to the petition and asked the petitioner to approach the appropriate forum.
