Saddened to see Fawad in handcuffs despite differences: Irfan Siddique
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Thursday reacted to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest over a “provocative speech” against the chief election commissioner (CEC) and said he was dejected to see Fawad in handcuffs despite having political differences with him.
Speaking on a point of order in the Senate, he regretted the treatment meted out to the PTI stalwart and said he was dejected to see Fawad in handcuffs on TV channels despite having differences with him. He said not a single member of PTI had sympathised with him when he was sent to Adiyala Jail. “The PTI victimised its opponents during nearly four years of rule and this practice should end now,” said Mr Siddiqui.
He said social media was comparing the arrest of Fawad with his plight, which was totally wrong as there was no FIR registered against him and he was arrested late at night without any charges whereas Fawad was arrested for threatening the ECP officials.
