ECP requests judiciary to furnish staff for elections in Punjab
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday decided to request the judiciary to take responsibility of Returning Officers (ROs) and Deputy Returning Officers (DROs) for elections in Punjab.
Sources said that the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial in a personal meeting. “The CJP will consult the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti over the matter”, sources added.
However, the ECP will move to the bureaucracy if the lower court denies.
