The electoral watchdog adjourned the hearing till January 24.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday reserved verdict on non-appearance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the contempt case.

At the outset of the hearing, the electoral watchdog was informed that Faisal Chaudhry and other lawyers were not able to appear due to funeral prayers of former SCBA president Latif Afridi. However, the ECP wondered why the PTI leaders were absent. “Where is Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry?

"The high court has suspended arrest warrants but not stopped them from appearing before the commission,” the ECP remarked. Later, the electoral watchdog adjourned the hearing till Jan 24 after reserving verdict on non-appearance of Imran Khan.

On Monday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) suspended the arrest warrants of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry and former planning minister Asad Umar.
