LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Punjab police chief has ordered heightened security throughout the province in the wake of the Islamabad suicide attack on Friday.
According to Punjab police spokesman, IGP Aamir Zulfiqar Khan directed the officials to intensify security at public and vulnerable places across the province. All regional and district police chiefs have been directed to secure religious places, hospitals, parks and government buildings.
The provincial police chief further directed the field formations to speed up search, sweep and combing operations to maintain peace in all districts. He also ordered effective checking at all entry and exit points of the inter-provincial and inter-districts check posts to restrict the movement of anti-state elements.
The spokesman said the Special Branch and the Counter Terrorism Department had also been directed to intensify intelligence-based operations (IBOs).
