Pak-Afghan officials to hold flag meeting amid unease at Chaman

CHAMAN (Dunya News) – In the midst of the unrest that erupted after the Afghan border forces targeted civilians on the Pakistani side in an unprovoked shelling near the Chaman border, Pakistani and Afghan officials agreed to hold a flag meeting in a bid to restore peace between the two countries. 

A high-level delegation comprising civil and military officials went to Afghanistan to meet top official, and a peace jirga was held in Spin Boldak. Pakistani officials said negotiations were held with the Afghan delegation under the leadership of Afghan Ministry of Defence. The Deputy Governor of Kandahar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Police Chief and intelligence officials also participated.

In the joint statement issued by both sides, it was pledged not to let anyone spoil mutual relations and to solve concerns through talks. It was also agreed to hold a flag meeting between Pakistani and Afghan officials in a bid to maintain peace between the two countries.
