LHC dismisses plea against suspension of CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed the petition against the suspension of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as inadmissible.

Justice Muzammil Akhtar of Lahore High Court heard the petition filed against the suspension by CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Tuesday.

In the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that the CCPO was targeted for legal action taken against a federal minister. Protection of the rights of a civil servant is essential in the matter of two governments, he said.

The counsel for the federal government while giving counter arguments said the CCPO was asked to report within three days, which was not implemented. A suspension order was issued for non-reporting.

The court inquired whether the High Court has jurisdiction to look into the matter of suspension and further said that apparently the Supreme Court has this authority, not the High Court. On this, the lawyer for the petitioner took the stand that the court can review it.

Justice Muzammil Akhtar said that the question of the court is how the High Court has the authority to hear this matter. Lahore High Court has no authority to hear this petition, he added.

Later, the court dismissed the petition against the suspension of CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as inadmissible.
