SC registrar returns Imran's plea to probe authenticity of audio leaks.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Objections were raised on the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan in the Supreme Court (SC) for the investigation of audio leaks.

The registrar’s office raised an objection to the petition that the petitioner had not approached the forum concerned.

Another objection raised by the registrar’s office was that the petition had not explained the matter of fundamental rights.

On Thursday last, Imran Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) for investigations into the genuineness of the recent audio leaks so that responsibility could be fixed and action could be taken against those responsible.

The ministries of interior, defence, information and information technology and the institutions including Intelligence Bureau (IB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had been made respondents in the petition.

Former prime minister Imran Khan had also pleaded with the court to order the government and the departments concerned to bring leaks of such audios to a halt.

He had also requested the court to declare besides data recording the monitoring of the Prime Minister’s House and Office and leaking of audios illegal.
