Reviewing constitution is important in terms of COAS extension: Fazlur Rehman
MULTAN (Dunya News) – Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday discussed about the importance of reviewing the constitution in terms of the decision on extension of the COAS.
The JUIL-F chief addressed a press conference flanked by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, during which Fazl lambasted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, asking not to take his [Imran] statements as ‘serious’ as he [Imran] has a no importance in country’s politics. “If Imran is ready to stage sit-in , then Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah is also prepared to contain the PTI leadership”, warned Fazl.
Expressing his views over the transgender bill, the JUI-F chief said that if there are flaws in the transgender act, then only solution to the problems would be approaching the parliament.
Meanwhile, former premier Gilani, while addressing to media went on to say that he has asked Fazl for support of Ali Musa Gilani. Taking a swipe at the PTI chief [Imran], Gilani alleged that he [Imran] involves in unnecessary acts, adding that how he [Imran] could dictate. The PPP stalwart said that the process of COAS appointment simple, but is [process of COAS appointment] being manipulated by the opponents.
Gilani further said that is not the task of the PTI Chairman [Imran Khan] to discuss the matter of COAS appointment, as it is up to the premier [Shehbaz] to appoint COAS. While discussing the economic situation of the country, former prime minister Gilani went on to praise the coalition government, saying that the incumbent government had saved the country from default by not involving in the politics.
