Sheikh Rashid meets British High Commissioner Christian Turner

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid met British High Commissioner (BHC) Christian Turner on Tuesday.

Pakistan and UK discussed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

The meeting reviewed the progress on Pak-UK agreements. Moreover, the matters pertaining to the return of convicted citizens and extradition of convicts were also discussed.

The two leaders agreed that the agreements are in the common interest of both the countries. Progress on agreements needs to be accelerated.

Mutual agreements will further expand and strengthen the relationship. Relations between the UK and Pakistan are very old. He added that Pakistan sees the relationship with Britain with an eye of high value. Relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom are very friendly and comprehensive, he further added.

The British High Commissioner (BHC) said that Pakistan s assistance in the evacuation of foreigners and Afghans in Afghanistan is commendable.

Earlier on Jan 16, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that all four Sharifs have been subtracted from Pakistan politics.

Talking to media persons, Sheikh Rashid said that the opposition has lost and the government will complete its five-year constitutional tenure and will continue its agenda of serving the people.

He said past rulers plundered the national exchequer, while Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to strengthen the national economy and address inflation through wise decisions.

Sheikh Rashid further said that there is no chance of any kind of a deal, there might have been some rumors about lenience in the past but not anymore.

He compared the opposition to the blind whales which are dreaming about in-house change and said that it is not going to happen.

Talking about protest marches announced by the Opposition, the Interior Minister said the government is not afraid of such marches.

Replying to Shehbaz Sharif’s comment, the minister said that PML-N President is a beautiful dream for the Prime Minister Imran Khan, not a nightmare.

About prevailing political situation in the country, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said public will witness positive developments in next two to three months.

On the issue of economy, the Interior Minister said approval of Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021-22 is a great success of the government and its allies.
