Sindh opposition parties stage symbolic sit-in against local govt law

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Opposition parties in Sindh including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday staged symbolic sit-in against local government law.

Opposition parties staged a joint protest against the local body law in Karachi.

Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Khurram Sher Zaman, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, Khawaja Izhar, MQM Pakistan Senior Deputy Convener Amir Khan and others addressed the participants of the protest.

MQM leader Aamir Khan has announced to start sit-in at Shahra-e-Faisal metro against the local body law.

He said that all the parties in the opposition alliance including PTI, PML-F will also stage sit-in along with the MQM-Pakistan against local body law and we will not go back till Sindh government repeal the controversial law.

MQM warns Sindh govt

Addressing the protest, MQM s Khawaja Izhar said that if the local body law is such a good law, then the Sindh Chief Minister should invite us to visit Sehwan.

He said that if we raise our voice against the oppressor, the provincial accuse MQM of doing politics of linguistics, adding that the PPP is oppressor and their oppression is about to end now.

Izhar further said that a salaried person of Sindh government used to say that the opposition parties could not bring even 1500 people, he should come and see we have brought more than 15,000 people.
