Dense fog blankets parts of Punjab, KP, disrupts road, air traffic

The Motorway police have advised the drivers to switch on fog lights while driving.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Dense fog again blanketed different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, including Lahore on night between Monday and Tuesday, paralysing routine life and disrupting road and air traffic, Dunya News reported.

The flight operation at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore was disrupted as the visibility dropped below 50 metres and several incoming or outgoing flights from both cities were either delayed or cancelled.

The thick fog has badly affected the flow of road traffic in several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a Motorway spokesman, the Motorway M1 Section from Rashakai to Peshawar Toll Plaza, Motorway M2 Sections from Lahore to Sheikhupura, Motorway Section from Thokar Niaz Baig to Kot Momin and Motorway Section from Bhaira to Lilla Interchange have been closed for all kind of traffic.

The spokesperson further said that Motorway M3 Section from Faizpur Lahore to Samundri, Motorway M4 Section from Faisalabad to Sham Kot, Motorway M5 Section from Multan to Rohri have also been closed. He also said that thick fog has also blanketed GT Road from Kala Shah Kaku to Kamonke and visibility has dropped below 10 metres.

The Motorway police have advised the drivers to switch on fog lights while driving at very slow speed as the visibility was dropped to very low due to dense fog. The Motorway police have also requested the people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.
