PM expressed anger over meritless distribution of tickets in KP LG polls: Fawad
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan expressed anger over meritless distribution of tickets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local governemnt polls.
Fawad Chaudhry said that a constitutional committee of PTI has been formed which will work and submit report to the Prime Minister. He said a new organization will be formed through this committee.
Fawad Chaudhry further said that PTI does not believe in family politics. “There will be no difference between PTI and other parties, if the practices of distributing tickets to family members were not stopped,” Fawad Chaudhry said.
After the election defeat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister of information and broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary said that the Prime Minister has decided to dissolve the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organizations across the country and formulate a 21-membered supreme committee.
Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that Imran Khan, as chairman PTI dissolved all party organizations from the center to tehsil level. He said all parliamentary boards have also been dissolved and officials, including the chief organizer, have been removed from their posts. He informed that the Prime minister made it clear that for the next local government elections, the party leaders will not be allowed to field their relatives as he will himself monitor the nomination of candidates for every constituency. He added that no party other than PTI can give 100-1200 party-tickets in country.
Moreover, the decision was taken during the PTI leadership meeting chaired by Imran Khan. It was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Usman Bazdar, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Minister for Local Government Mahmood Rasheed, Senator Saifullah Niazi, Amir Kayani, Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Hamad Azhar, Shafqat Mehmood, Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan, Asad Qaiser, Pervez Khattak, Murad Saeed and other senior leaders of the party.
The meeting reviewed the political and economic situation of the country and discussed preparations for the local government elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was also briefed on the administrative matters of the party in Punjab, the election results in KP and the party strategy for the next election. Imran Khan directed Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan to organise party workers in the province as he claimed, PTI is still the most popular party in the country.
According to sources, during the party meeting, the PM was briefed on various government development projects. Imran Khan instructed the party not to repeat the previous mistakes in the local body elections in the 2nd phase in KP and said that he would decide candidates for elections.
The party has formed 21-member “supreme” committee to monitor preparations for the next election and award tickets. The committee will be headed by Imran Khan. Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Umar from Sindh, Imran Ismail, Ali Zaidi, Qasim Suri, Governor Agha Zahoor and Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, Ejaz Chaudhry and Shirin Mazari are members of the committee.
Prime Minister dissolves all bodies and wings of PTI
Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan has dissolved all the bodies and wings of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the party s poor performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government polls. He has formed a 21-member supreme committee to devise strategy for the next local elections.
The first session of the supreme committee chaired by PM Imran was held in Islamabad today to discuss strategy regarding the upcoming elections in KP and Punjab.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar, Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Minister for Local Government and Community Development Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Senator Saifullah Niazi, Amir Kiyani, federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Hamamd Azhar and Shafqat Mahmood.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Federal Minister of Communication and Postal Services Murad Saeed also participated in the session.
The members reviewed the list of candidates contesting for mayor polls in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Gujrat and Sialkot.
In a post on social-networking website Twitter, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry informed that consultative meeting of senior PTI leaders will also be held today in Islamabad
