Supreme Court orders reinstatement of sacked employees

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan while announcing its final verdict regarding dismissal of 16,000 government employees has reinstated the sacked workers on Friday.

It has been decided by the apex court that employees serving in BS-1 to BS-7 will be reinstated to their original positions while BS-08 to BS-17 employees will have to go through a commissioned test in order to maintain the transparency of government organizations.

Ealier, a five-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial reserved the judgment on the review petitions filed by the government against the court judgment striking down the Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Act 2010.

The federal government on Wednesday requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to recall its judgment that struck down the Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Act 2010.

Initially, the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its verdict by rejecting the requests of review petition however on a suo moto action taken by the SC it has now been decided to reinstate the sacked employees.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah in his dissenting note said that in a strong democratic system parliament is supreme and degrading parliament is tantamount to degrading democracy

He further said that section 4 and section 10 are contradictory therefore they should be reviewed.

The decision came as a golden opportunity for the employees as they celebrate the final verdict.
