Senate committee rejects amendment related to use of EVM

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate committee on Friday has rejected amendment related to the use of electronic voting machine (EVM) in elections.

During the session of Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, reform regarding I-voting for overseas Pakistanis has also been rejected.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Azam Swati accused Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of taking money during the polls and making fun of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, government representatives and ECP members staged walkout from the meeting in protest.

On the other hand, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has expressed resentment over the allegation and summoned a key session on Monday to discuss this matter.

Sources told that special secretary ECP Zafar Iqbal will brief the members.
