ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government ministers are actively playing their part for reconciliation between Prime Minister Imran Khan and estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen.

Sources privy to the matter have told Dunya News on Thursday that some close companions of the premier also want restoration of relations between Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen.

It has further been learnt that some ministers are keeping backdoor contacts with Jahangir Tareen and efforts are being made to make contact between both of them.

Jahangir Tareen is on bail in three cases – two in Sessions Court and one in Banking Court of Lahore. He has been accused of committing money laundering by fake bank accounts through his sugar mills.

Jahangir Tareen had said that inquiry should definitely be launched against him but not over a specific phone call. He alleged the investigation team of being partial and controversial while demanding justice from PTI.

Jahangir Tareen said he will appear before courts whenever he is summoned and vowed never to escape the law.

It is pertinent here to mention that several PTI lawmakers had earlier requested a meeting with PM Imran Khan over issue of Jahangir Khan Tareen. The meeting request was signed by 30 lawmakers including 8 Members of National Assembly (MNAs), two ministers and 4 advisors. MPA Raja Riaz had also confirmed signing the petition.
