Gilani has challenged the decision of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Yousaf Raza Gilani has filed an intra-court appeal in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against its verdict on Chairman Senate elections.

Yousaf Raza Gilani has challenged the decision of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah that rejected PPP leader’s plea against election of Sadiq Sanjrani as Chairman Senate.

Gillani, who is now Opposition Leader in Senate, has requested the court to set aside verdict of single bench and remove Sadiq Sanjrani from the post.

PPP leader has also asked the court to nullify rejection of his seven votes by Presiding officer and declare him as Chairman Senate.

Earlier on March 24, IHC dismissed a petition by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani challenging the results of the Senate chairman election, noting that proceedings of the upper house of parliament were "immune from the interference" of the high court.
