Former Sindh MPA reveals how votes were bought in 2018 Senate election
KARACHI (Dunya News) – A former member of the Sindh Assembly, belonging to MQM, has revealed how votes were bought with huge amounts of money in 2018 Senate elections.
Ex-MPA Mahfooz Yar Khan said that one MQM member sold his vote in exchange for a car while another took money. At the time, Senior PPP Minister Nisar Khuhro was in touch for securing Senate votes, he added.
Mahfooz Yar Khan said that he had asked Nisar Khuhro for an amount in advance but matters could not be settled. He claimed that Dr Asim Hussain also played his political role while Shehla Raza actively contacted Urdu speaking members of assembly for their votes.
“Shehla Raza said that we will not only finance but also give tickets for the general election”, he claimed.
He further said that Farogh Naseem’s seat was secured with great difficulty. Some MQM members even arrived in the cars of PPP ministers to cast their votes.
Briefcases of money were being distributed from a Clifton hospital, he claimed. Others thought they went to get medicine but they left the hospital with a briefcase.
