PDM meeting: Fazl proposes 'Jail Bharo Tehreek'

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chairman and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday proposed launch  Jail Bharo Tehreek  [filling jails movement].

According to sources, Fazlur Rehman suggested that if any of the PDM leaders or key leaders are arrested, the option of  Jail Bharo Tehreek  should be considered, adding that all parties should prepare their workers in this regard.

The PDM chief said that in case of arrests, protest strategy and closure of national highways should also be carried out.

Sources further said that the meeting discussed the concerns of the PDM leadership regarding the long march towards Islamabad at the beginning of the New Year.

It was also suggested that the resignations be submitted after the long march and that this option be used in a timely manner.


PML-N lawmakers hand in resignations


Earlier today, several senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have started to hand over their resignations from the assemblies to the leadership of the party.

As per details, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Malik Afzal Khokar and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saiful Malook Khokhar have submitted their resignation while MPA Rana Munawar Ghous from Sargodha has already submitted his to the leadership.

PML-N leader Uzma Bukhari has said that the party has not asked lawmakers to hand in their resignation but the party leaders are submitting them on their own.

On the other hand, the leadership of the 11-party opposition alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), will meet in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to devise strategy for second phase of anti-government movement.

Resignations from the assemblies by PDM lawmakers will also discussed in the meeting.
