Pakistan moving towards development after difficult time: PM

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that economic indicators in Pakistan are positive. Pakistan is moving towards development after difficult time.

Addressing the  Naya Pakistan Certificate  Launching Ceremony, the Prime Minister said that overseas Pakistanis are the biggest asset of the country.

He said that depreciation of the currency increased inflation. Today, the rising value of the rupee indicates a better state of the country s economy.

Imran Khan said that the rupee is strengthening today without spending a dollar. There is a current account surplus after 17 years due to effective economic policies. A 24% increase in the country s exports is also a welcome sign. Thank God the country is stabilizing, he added.

The Prime Minister said that they were carrying the burden of debts of the previous government and to pay the previous debts his government had to take loans. However, Pakistan s debt has not increased in the last four months.

Imran Khan said that the entire textile industry has flourished in Faisalabad. This means that Pakistan is moving forward on the right path out of difficult times.

He said that I am proud that after 17 years, the current account deficit has gone into surplus. This is a great achievement but unfortunately this achievement is not being highlighted much.

PM said that the whole world economy was affected during Coronavirus. When he came to power, there was a current account deficit of $20 billion, which is now declining.

He said that government is taking a strong action against the sugar cartel and in future there will be no problem of sugar and wheat.
