Four new members of the Election Commission of Pakistan took oath under the 18th Amendment.

Chief Election Commission Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza administered the oath on the new members in a ceremony held in Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of the prime minister, had appointed four retired judges of high courts as members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).The judges who took oath as the ECP members are Justice (r) Fazalur Rehman (Balochistan), Justice (r) Shahzad Akbar Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Justice (r) Riaz Kayani (Punjab) and Justice (r) Muhammad Roshan Essani (Sindh).
