Govt acknowledges rising inflation in NA report

Up to 14.9% inflation was recorded between July and December last year

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In a report submitted to National Assembly (NA), government acknowledged rising inflation and told the House that millions of rupees were spent on maintenance of official vehicles.

Answering to questions in NA, government acknowledged that prices of commodities increased between July and December. Prices of Soybeans, crude oil, pulses, palm oil, electricity and gas were increased.

Government spent Rs1.5 billion in subsidy to Tandoors and Rs226 billion in subsidies to lifeline consumers of electricity. In this period up to 14.9% inflation was recorded.

NA was informed that Rs190.56 million were spend by Finance ministry and its subsidiaries on maintenance of 1909 vehicles in last five years.

Rs46.8M were spent on 31 vehicles of Finance Ministry, Rs1M on three vehicles of Military Finance Dept. and Rs46.4M on 198 vehicles of Auditor General.

Rs9.2M were spent on 54 vehicles of Zarai Taraqiati Bank, Rs49.4M on 58 vehicles of National Bank and Rs1.77B on 1490 vehicles of FBR.
