Pakistan wants permanent resolution of Kashmir conflict through talks: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday has said that Pakistan wants peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue through negotiations with India.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, Qureshi said that Pakistan supports harmony and stability in the region. We want peaceful and good relations with our neighboring countries, he added.

The minister told that Pakistan’s foreign policy was prepared while keeping in view the internal and external matters. With effective foreign policy, Pakistan has made its name in the world, he asserted.

Qureshi said that Kashmiri people have been disconnected from the outer world by Indian forces as there is still a blockage of communication networks in the valley. We can successfully deal with the regional challenges by resolving Kashmir issue, he stated.

He said the international community including saner elements within India is speaking against Modi s illegal steps in occupied Kashmir.

The greater challenge for us today is how to stand up to Hindutava ideology and add greater momentum to our moral, political and diplomatic support for the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination while preserving peace, he went on to say.

The minister continued Pakistan has acted with responsibility but with firm resolve that their actions are unacceptable. "We downgraded diplomatic relations and suspended bilateral trade with India. Rail and bus services have also been stopped, " he added.
