ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PTI leader and former foreign minister, has taken his legal battle to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to challenge his conviction in the cipher case.

The petition, filed by Barrister Taimoor Malik and Ali Bukhari on behalf of Shah Mehmood, contended that the trial process has been marred by violations of the law, with prosecution statements recorded in the absence of his legal representatives.

The government lawyer was appointed without his notice and the trial court’s order was against the principles of fair trial, the petition stated.

The petition prayed for Shah Mahmood Qureshi's release by nullifying the Special court's order in the cipher case issued on January 30.
