Funeral prayers offered for seven martyrs of Loralai terrorist attack

LORALAI (Dunya News) – Funeral prayers were offered on Wednesday for the seven martyrs of Loralai terrorist attack in Cantonment area.

It was attended by provincial home minister Zia Lango, police inspector general Mohsin Hassan Butt along with civil and military authorities.

The bodies, lying in a coffin and wrapped in Pakistani flag, were later dispatched to the native areas of the victims.

Home Minister said that they know how to protect their country. Police IG maintained that investigation has been initiated whereas CTD authorities are also assisting them. 

On the other hand, business places and markets remained closed as the people mourned over the killings in the terror attack.



Meanwhile, those injured in the attack are under treatment at different hospitals.


Suicide and gun attack


At least nine people including three policemen were martyred when militants stormed the office of deputy inspector general of police in Loralai district of Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by medical superintendant Loralai Teaching Hospital, the dead included a head constable, a constable, Balochistan Constabulary personnel, four ‘Class IV’ police employees, a sweeper as well as one civilian.

"Senior police officials were busy selecting candidates for different categories of civilian jobs when these terrorists entered the compound and hurled hand grenades," Balochistan police chief Mohsin Butt told AFP.

"Police officials opened fire on them killing one of the terrorists," he said, adding that the two remaining gunmen went into hiding in the building and later blew themselves up.

Three of those killed were policemen and six were civilian staff members, while twenty people were injured in the crossfire, Butt said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the attack on DIG Complex Loralai. He lauded the timely action of Frontier Constabulary and Pak Army personnel. He said coward act of enemies’ reflects their defeated mindset.

Prime Minister Khan said morale of our Army, Police and nation is high and there is no space for terrorists and their facilitators in the country.

PM Khan prayed for the martyrs and speedy recovery of the injured of the attack.
