A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar announced the verdict.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court on Wednesday indicted televangelist and MNA Aamir Liaquat Hussain in a contempt of court case.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Umar Ata Bandial announced the verdict over a petition filed by a private channel against Liaquat.

The decision came as the judges rejected the unconditional apology submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader from Karachi and indicted him under Article 204(3) of the Constitution.

Liaquat, however; pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The televangelist was issued a contempt notice on August 10 over non-compliance of court’s orders to refrain from using abusive and derogatory language against individuals, including media persons.
