ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The trial in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship references will not take place inside prison, caretaker Minister for Information Ali Zafar has said.

Speaking on  Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath , the minister said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested for hearing to take place inside prison due to "security reasons".

"This is due to security concerns and its temporary.... Will be shifted to court as soon as the situation returns to normal. The trial in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship references will be open, fair and according to Section 16," he added.

The minister said Nawaz Sharif would avail facilites in prison as per his privileges, adding that authorities concerned will look into the matter.

"Adiala Jail is under the jurisdiction of the Punjab government. I’m not aware of the standards and privileges," he added.

On Saturday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz minutes after they landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.

The former prime minister and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were then shifted to Adiala jail where they were given B-class facilities.

The father-daughter duo had returned to Pakistan from London after being convicted in the Avenfield property case.
