Bilour family under continuous threat

Haroon’s father Bashir Ahmed Bilour was also killed in a terrorist attack in Peshawar. After his death, senior leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, brother of Bashir Ahmed, took the charge of Bilour family. He, on various occasions, showed his reservations over the threats of terrorism. People from all walks of life mourned his death.

Leaders from ANP and other parties inclined towards left-wing politics have been the major target in KP. Indeed, terrorism has gulped down people indiscriminately in the past in every part of Pakistan. Leaders having diversified thoughts have been targeted multiple times; it is not only about secular parties.

Haroon wanted to revive ANP, but lost his life, leaving behind certain questions which are yet to be answered by every stakeholder who holds power in Pakistan, including the provincial and federal interim governments.

His funeral prayers will be offered on today at 5pm at Wazir Bagh in Peshawar.

Extremism and politics should be separated at any cost

In a democratic country, every political leader is free to initiate his campaign and convey his message to the masses. Differences are evident, and their representation should not be harmful for others. There is no way one’s voice can be crushed by taking his life.

Bilour s death, unfortunately, depicts the gruesome environment Pakistanis are living in. Every public representative should be provided with equal and partial opportunities to contest elections. Amid the chaos, again there is a need to come close to each other and clear the reservations for a strong and sustainable democracy desired by everyone.
