Fuming Nawaz Sharif repudiates requests to surrender 'aggressive narrative'

Sharif vowed to carry forward same narrative in general polls 2018.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Adamant on his stance, Nawaz Sharif had spurned Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s requests aimed at relinquishing aggressive tone and restraining from confrontation with state-institutions, reliable sources informed Dunya News.

Shehbaz Sharif and Khaqan Abbasi had arrived at Punjab House to pacify Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo.

Nawaz asserted that neither he had done anything evil nor he had stated anything [in the interview] which stood against the facts. “If I suffer any political loss on basis of this interview then I’m ready for the consequences”, stated Sharif.

Sharif made it overtly clear on the PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi that he would carry forward same narrative in the general polls 2018 while asserting that the same would become party’s prowess.

On the other hand, both PM and Punjab CM apprised Nawaz that his remarks pertaining to 26/11 Mumbai attacks had tarnished party’s image whereas public opinion had drastically shifted against PML-N [following interview with Dawn’s Cyril Almeida]. Strained by the evolving situation and dramatic turns of events, Punjab CM warned his elder brother that several lawmakers were ready to join ranks of foes citing the aforementioned interview. Premier also warned supremo that such statements would only bring harm to none other than incumbent government.

Sharif—after hearing arguments—repudiated requests made by the senior leaders while stating that all he wanted was supremacy of parliament. “Some legislators and party’s stalwarts are being pressurized to switch loyalties while others are looking for excuses. I will not stop those who want to bid farewell”.


Rafique-Kirmani scuffle



Well-informed sources revealed that Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and Senator Asif Kirmani—during the same huddle—were indulged in heated arguments.

Kirmani accused Rafique of revealing parties’ secrets at some other places. Hearing this, Rafique lodged strong protest with Nawaz Sharif while stating that he did not deserve such reward was given to him [read Saad Rafique] for his decades-old political struggle. “Your [Nawaz Sharif] personal servants are tarnishing my image”, Rafique complained Sharif. To this, Kirmani replied he wasn’t personal servant of anyone rather a stalwart and loyal aide.

On this occasion, ousted lawmaker and former foreign minister Khawaja Asif put his weight behind Saad Rafique.
