Political and religious parties protest against Davis release

Davis' release termed as joke with the nation.

Various political and religious organisations took out rallies in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad and other parts of the country after Friday prayers to protest against US gunman Raymond Davis release. Free for alls between the participants of the protests and police were also seen at various places.A rally was taken out from Masjid-e-Shuhda to the Punjab Assembly by the activists of various parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaatud Dawa and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid. The participants raised slogans against the United States and leaders termed Davis’ release as a joke with the nation.Addressing the participants, the leaders said that the rulers had become insensitive to the public sentiments and the national honour. Another protest was held in front of the US Consulate where the participants raised anti-America slogans to protest Davis’ release.In Aabpara, Islamabad, police stopped the PTI activists from marching towards the Parliament House. The Awami Muslim League, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and JI also took out rallies at Fawara Chowk in Rawalpindi. Former ISI chief also led a demonstration. PTI chief Imran Khan said that the rulers sold the honour of the nation by releasing the American gunman.A partial strike was observed in Karachi on the appeal of Sunni Ittehad Council while various rallies were taken out under the banner of religious parties. Karachi JUI chief Qari Muhammad Osman said that Davis was a criminal and the way he was sneaked out of the country was condemnable.
