'Pre-primary enrolment surges by 16.8pc during FY2017-18'
The report reveals the enrolment is estimated to increase further by 7.8 percent
ISLAMABAD (APP) – The pre-primary enrolment level witnessed an increase of 16.8 percent and went up to 11.37 million in 2017-18 in comparison to 9.792 million in 2016-17, according to the Economic Survey of Pakistan report.
The report was released by Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah along with Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal during a joint press conference on Thursday.
The report reveals the enrolment is estimated to increase further by 7.8 percent i.e. from 11.37 million to 12.328 million in 2017-18.
While in primary education from Classes I-V, a total of 169.6 million primary schools having 475.2 million teachers were functional in 2016-17.
An increase of 0.6 percent in primary enrollment was witnessed which increased to 21.686 million in 2017-18 against 21.551 million in 2016-17.
The primary enrollment is estimated to further increase to 22.521 million in 2017-18, the report added.
