Muslim convert Indian woman moves LHC for citizenship

Amna Bibi stated that she married her husband at her own will and wanted to stay in Pakistan.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Amna, the Indian Sikh pilgrim who recently embraced Islam and married a Pakistani boy has moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) for her Pakistani citizenship.

In her petition filed in the LHC, Amna Bibi stated that she married her Pakistani husband at her own will and she wanted to stay in Pakistan.

She further stated that people of Pakistan are good and she is happy here.

It is pertinent here to mention that a Sikh woman pilgrim from India’s Hoshiarpur district had converted to Islam and married a Lahore-based man.

She had gone to attend the Baisakhi festival there as part of a Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Sikh delegation.

Kiran Bala, daughter of Manohar Lal, had also written to Pakistan s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), requesting the authorities to extend her visa so that she can stay in Pakistan.

She maintained that she has married a man named Mohammad Azam, a resident of Lahore, during a ceremony held at Jamia Naeemia seminary in Lahore on April 16, at her own will and has taken a new name Amna Bibi.
